Default Why don't people try this with RoIOs?

I am one of those Floyd fans that wants every concert that has been taped. However, I don't want every version of each concert. I was wondering why there hasn't been an attempt to go through all the archives and come up with the best versions of each song for each show, or at least the best version of each show, and then have them put out in a package. I'm thinking something akin to A Treeful of Secrets and Have You Got it Yet. It would be a daunting task, to be sure, but it would be so nice to have a central group of RoIOs to get every performance I desire. That way, as well, every concert can more easily be available to downloaders who, say, use Bit Torrent and can be frustrated by the lack of seeding on some of the performances.

Do I have a good idea here, or is it just something that would take too much time?

I think the idea is not bad, but the job to do that would be enormous...

I have a 5 year plan to get an archive together on Blu-Ray (or it's replacement) in Chronological order and then circulate it. I also want to then do update packs as new revisions become available. Obviously this would be a huge task and it already is lol. I have to collect some more shows from 87 onwards yet and then check my sources for the shows so as to get the best available. My biggest downfall is I don't have access to Broadband at home and when I do have access to broadband there is a 1Gig cap (uploads counted) so I can't download much lol. Snail mail trading is basically the only way I can do it.

I definitely wouldn't expect such a project to be done in a short time. However, several people could get together and each work on different performances, releasing the whole thing in chunks over time. Some shows should be easier than others--Pictures of Pink Floyd is the only version of its particular performances I have seen, but I may just be bad at looking--which can help things move along to start with. What would be interesting, though, is to see if somebody has the ability to unearth a recording thought lost. I doubt it, but there was the discovery of that Last Minute Put-Together Boogie Band tape a while ago, so you never know.

Yeah I am working with another Aussie on the project. Unfortuantly there don't seem to be many Aussie Lossless Floyd collectors so I have 1 other trader that I am working with on it and as I said we pretty much have 1965-1981 complete just need to work on the years after. Then it will be making sure we have the best sounding / lowest gen shows... That is what will take the time. But getting our collections together has been the first step so we can work out where to focus our efforts.
