Default Roger Waters is coming to South America!

For the first time ever, Roger is coming to South America with his tour. This is certainly GREAT news. I live in Lima, Peru and there are many devoted fans burning in anticipation. Tickets are nearly sold out, although there were surely expensive (some of them near ths US$ 300).

Besides Peru, he's going to visit Chile, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. His repertoire will include the complete Dark Side of the Moon and some of his greatest solo and PF songs.

Is there anybody out there also seeing Roger for the first time in his country. I read that his tour is also including other unusual places for him like Dubai and Zurich.

As I know, it's not his first coming to South America.
I have a bootleg named Roger Waters - Conforting Rain (Buenos Aires Velez Stadium - 07.03.2002).

I can hardly wait to see him and the band in Budapest, on April 14.
Previously, I've tried to buy tickets for his Barcelona concert (April 21, I guess), but the're out of tickets.

Well, being from Romania, Budapest it's closer than Barcelona, that's true.
Do you know an aproximative setlist for this tour? [Later edit: So, he'll play DSOTM and some other classics.]

All the best.

The first time that Roger I visit my country (Chile), lamentably I could not attend by ene reasons. But this time is different already with tickets in my hand, prepared for March when this in Chile and can here enjoy the Dark Side Of The Moon.

Really dream with the Valley of the moon, one has always commented of the great concert of the group in this place. Here a experience remarkable is spoken always of this concert, and serious to have that concert in my country and that place.

Some photos of the place:

Seria una agrado tenerlos todos aca.
(Serious an affability to have them all here)

Excuse by my English, occupies a translator.

Default Roger Waters during the 1999 and 2000 US Tours

I first saw Roger Waters during his 1999 tour in Atlanta, GA.

The attendance at the show was fairly low for this venue. I remember that there were hardly any attendees on the grass, but most of the seats were filled. I would guess that this was a money losing date on the tour.

However, the fans that were there were definitely true Floyd fans. It'd been a long time and we were ready for Waters return. Posting this reply made me dig out the RoIO which I'm listening to right now. As soon as Hitachi releases their internal Terabyte drive, I'll be able to rip this and upload to the site.

Here's a copy of the concert review by Roi Tamkin

"So ya thought ya might like to go to the show/ To feel the warm thrill of confusion, that space cadet glow....."

Yes, Mr. "Pink Floyd" himself is on tour after a twelve year absence. Although he lost the rights to the name, Roger Waters showed the crowd who Pink Floyd really is. His three hour "In The Flesh" show consisted of two sets with no opening act. The first set consisted of popular songs from Wish You Were Here , Animals , The Wall and The Final Cut . Each song brought louder cheering and singing along.

Roger was very generous with the selection of songs, including the hits normally sung by David Gilmour and Richard Wright. Their roles were expertly filled by guitarist Doyle Bramhall II. On tour with Roger was a seven piece band, including three guitarists, two keyboard players, drums and percussionist, Roger on bass and guitar and two backup singers. One of the backup singers was Patricia Arnold, a legendary singer in England.

The stage was set to resemble a living room, complete with couches, table lamps, a big screen TV and goldfish in a tank. During long instrumental breaks, the non-playing musicians would sit on the couches, drink and play cards. Projected on the back wall were various images taken from the Pink Floyd and Roger Waters albums, including children in masks, flying pigs and a gorilla watching TV with a remote in one hand and a bone in the other. The performance was a spectacular sensory experience -- very visual, and with sound effects coming from all directions.

After a twenty minute break, the second set opened with songs from Dark Side of the Moon blending into a set of songs from his five solo albums. The set ended back with Pink Floyd favorites, complete with lava lamp psychedelic projections on the back wall.

Roger Waters encored with "Comfortably Numb," inducing all into a drug-hazed stupor with guitarists Bramhall and Andy Fairweather-Low dueling leads atop the set's living room wall. Roger concluded the show by thanking the audience for bringing back in him something that was missing. He didn't elaborate as to what the something was, but with additional stops added to his tour schedule, maybe we won't have to wait another twelve years to see him again.
