Default Problem with 7.02.77 Grassland file conversion

I am able to download the 7.02.77 PF show fine. It plays perfect on winamp, but when I try conversion to a CD burning format, I get an incredible amount of static/distortion/clipping on the burnt disc playback output. What are you folks using? I presume winamp works fine but maybe my format or preference settings are not right for the final wav file output? I am using Sonic Record Now for the disc burning. Thanks for any help.

Interesting. I don't see an obvious problem with this show. Flacs look ok, as do the wavs. I recommend decompressing with FLAC 1.2.1b. If you don't already have it, you can get it here:

http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

As to burning, I'm not familiar with Sonic Record Now, but EAC does an excellent job, and it's a free program. Here's the link if you want to check it out:

Burnatonce is also a free burning tool which does a good job. You can download it here:

Default Thank you

I will give the FLAC decoder a try. The peculiarity is I am able to download from a variety of sites, including pinkfloyd.ws, for ROIOs and convert files from shn, flac, wma, etc. to a wav format w/ good results for my burner but these 7.02.77 files have stumped me so far. Might be just as well as I seriously considering just to go to a hard-drive storage medium only for music and burn CDs occasionally for friends and the car.

One other question: you folks picking up static clicks on your final sound files randomly? I think it may be a "dirty" DSL conduit I am using, but it is not too much concern.

You might try using shntool to check the files for sector boundary errors and extra riff chunks etc before burning them to disc. It can also repair those errors once detected. Here is the link:

Hope that helps!

Default OK

Once again, thank you. I've been a tape/music collector for about 30 years now and still learning. When the Wall came out in 1979, it was a big deal for me to tape a radio special of the '74 DSoTM show that makes the rounds. LOL. Now, the internet is the radio.

My pleasure to help. Hope those progs help solve the problems. Enjoy the site and the music! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to post 'em. Plenty of people here eager to assist.
