Thumbs up Pink Floyd Nick Mason in early 70's

Nick Mason in early 70's was a crazy man, when i saw him in 1994, with my 14 years old,a crazy man with a big moustache in Pompeii movie in VHS,i said to me ,yupiiii!
I never seen at that age any drummer with a full capacity to play a double kit of drums and crush the cymbals with many violence like songs "Echoes","Saucerful of Secrets" and the epic "One of these days".I said to me "i will be play drums in future".
This experience in my golden age(only 14!) changed my life, and make me one of Floyd super fans in Portugal.Today, yet i love drumkits that Mason used in 70's with a lots of assorted percussion!!!!!

Default Nick Mason's drum kit

Hi Roch. Cool that you were influenced by Nick Mason. He was pretty cool in the Pompeii video. I remeber in the concerts in the early 70's his drum kit had a scene of blue crashing waves across it. It was the most beautiful kit I ever saw. I played the drums in a band then and always loved the opening of "Time" where he plays the toms like a crazy clock! He was very original. Like the other band members, not technically fantastic, but certainly unique and great at being original.

Default Pink Floyd RoIO - A Tree Full Of Secrets.

Time is one of the best openings to any song! I love the toms in it. I also love the patience in the beginning. What I mean is, a song about time slowly starts methodically it is not rushed and then....BLAMO

By the way I read Mason's book, I am not a reader by nature but, this one is very interesting. A lot of history (from his perspective) yet he put enough humor in it to keep it readable for a guy like myself. I recommend it highly.

In Pompeii, Nick stood out to me as "best of show" more than anyone else... he is just going nuts! Dropping the stick and not missing a beat... crazy stuff. I've still got to check out his book.

I wonder what he would look like now-a-days if he decided to grow his signature mustache and long wavy hair now. Back then he looked like a hippie, now he looks like a kind calm Englishman, with his signature black slacks and white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows.
