Default Music from the Film More

Music from the Film More (often referred to simply as More) is Pink Floyd's first full-length soundtrack. The film More was directed by Barbet Schroeder; in it, two songs can be heard that were not included on the album: "Seabirds" and "Hollywood". The album actually comprises re-recordings of all the other music used in the film, sometimes in a completely different form.

More contains mostly acoustic folk ballads, an unusual genre for Pink Floyd. The band only use their trademark electronic effects on longer instrumentals such as "Quicksilver" and "Main Theme". Elsewhere, they rely on distinctive harmonic and melodic progressions, such as the surreal chord progression in "Cirrus Minor" or the D dim chord in "The Crying Song".
It must be noted that this is Pink Floyd's first album without founding member Syd Barrett, who was ousted from the group in early 1968 during the recording of their previous album, A Saucerful of Secrets. It is also the first album to be produced by Pink Floyd without assistance from Norman Smith.

Music from the Film More reached #9 in the UK and - upon re-release in 1973 - #153 in the US. In 1987, the album was re-released on CD. A digitally remastered CD was released in 1995 in the UK and 1996 in the US.

Default Oddly interesting album

More is an oddly interesting albums by Floyd as far as I'm concerned. I love the fact that it has probably the hardest rock tune that Floyd ever did with The Nile Song,( I wish there was a live version) and then has the serene Crying Song and Green is the Colour (and others). Since it is a soundtrack there is the tracks that wouldn't make a "normal" album I still enjoy listeneing to this album more than Atom Heart or Saucerful.

Default More

I love this one! The pre-Darkside period is what I find myself listening to the most.

Default Saw the movie

I like "More" for it's diversity. "The Nile song" could be considered a precurser for "In the Flesh" followed by a sleepy mellow tune. I saw the move in a mind- altered condition in the early '70's. Not much of a movie and you could only hear the Floyd songs in 2 background parts. If this was recorded better, it would rise up for me on the list. I love the instrumentals and the mellow ballads. Cymbaline and Green is the color have always been my favorite mellow Floyd songs (up there with Fat ol Sun and Wots uh the deal) Anyway it was yet another reason why by the time DSotM was released, I was already a huge fan. Floyd could create moods, atmosphee and also just play fantastic music!

"More" was a good album. I personally liked "Green is the Colour", "Cymbaline", and the haunting ambient tones of "Quicksilver."
Out of the 2 film albums, I'd have to say Obscured is my favourite though.
