Red face It's not easy being PINK!

Sitting down to write this I find myself listening to Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-9) from Picts In The Highlands. 1-9 What, I thought they were seperated? Yes 1-9, they didn't do it often. God I love ROIOs.

Let's see, since I don't have a "particular experience". I'll just share my whole experience. It all started for me when I was about 13-ish, a family friend that lived across the street let me listen to his album (look that word up if your not sure) Dark Side Of The Moon. I FREAKIN LOVED IT. So I saved up what little money I could and bought the tape. I couldn't get enough, nearly blew out my ear drums, playing it on my "Jam Box" through my Bass amp then into my headphones. Seems as though thats the only good I got out of my amp or bass, but that is another story. I was hooked, then I bought The Wall, and then The Final Cut, you may know my feelings on that one. As time went buy I bought several more CDs (finally moved up), Until I had mostly all they released.

Mostly everyone I knew was not into Pink Floyd so much, but I didn't care. I am not much for comforming, but I needed more. Bought a book, nice big one to, alot of pictures. I didn't even like to read. Alot of pictures though. On and on I went my wife bought me the Shine On box set. She wasn't happy about it, but she loves me ;o). All the while most people thought I was crazy or obsessed.

Then I bought a computer, hooked up the internet, and went looking for more. I came across a copy of Black Holes In The Sky. Oh my god, what was this, could it be, is there more out there. I bought it, of course. Only $3 on E-Bay. I happy as pigs (three different ones). After more searching I found Crazy D's, you may know it, I am not sure if it is still up. I was a downloading fool, confusing way to do it, but I was all over it. I took a break for a while built my house, yeah I built it, damn proud of that.

I stumbled across this place. I signed up, didn't do much with it, downloaded a few shows, whatever. I started posting, even started uploading, always happy to share. I started a humble web page to. So, now I sit here at the helm of a computer trolling around gathering all Floyd I can get. My family just role thier eyes, my friends to. But I don't care, I love it so. And thats why...

It ain't easy being PINK...

Default Willie B Pink

Great story, nockster. I've given pieces of my story in various posts, but since my history with Floyd is so long (since 1969) I'd have to write a book. However the jacket cover notes might go like this:

"38 years of obsession with a band can either make for boring fanatic obsession or interesting anecdotes. Willie B has a bit of both in this book. From the early days of small gigs and experimentation through the mega concerts of the '70s and into the decades after the split of Roger, Wille captures the spirit of the true Floyd fan who has been devoted to them through the ages. The author recounts some early show tid bits (like when members of the Greatful dead were sitting in front of him at the Dark Side show at Radio City in New York City), to stories of standing in line overnight for tickets with kids who were not born when he first saw the Floyd, to an amazing bit of luck that got him to the first row for the Yankee Stadium concert of '94. This book is a unique perspective from a fan who is not only a gifter writer, but a musician with a broad background of experience and tastes and a researcher who has done his homework to bring us one of the best fan books about the quintessential progressive rock band of our time."

LOL will do Nockster! In my spare time. (I have 2 jobs and I'm at one now, but maybe when I retire)
Seriously, thanks for the compliment... I have several books in my head, but no time to do it. :-(
