Animals - Underrated?
I think that Animals is one of Pink Floyd's greatest albums and it is certainly one of the best tours (1977 In The Flesh World Tour). Dogs is easily one of Dave's best ever guitar pieces, Sheep just has so much energy bouncing around and a great outro from Dave with awesome vocals from Rog, and Pigs is just a great song with terrific keyboards and again guitar work! But what do you think?

I love Animals
Jambo, I agree. Animals was underrated. IMHO, it's better than WYWH. I saw the 77 tour twice at Madison Sq Garden. Loved the show. Also I agree the guitar licks in Dogs was among Dave's best. (I actually hear some of that magic in his latest release song "The Blue") Also in the fade out of Pigs, listen to Rogers bass line ... he's one of my top 3 bass players. Then sheep, amazing song and great in concert. Roger has brought it back to his live show. Oh, one more rare tidbit .. if you had the 8-track "pigs on the wing" was one full song with a great Gilmour lead in the middle! I actually have the MP3 of it somewhere. I'll upload it if it's not already here.

I have heard that extended one from the 8-track with the solo, and I actually found out that it's Snowy White playing the solo. He was the extra guitarist who toured with the Floyd in '77!

Agree totally. One of the most popular tours for collectors and a great album in itself.

Animals is my all time favourite
I believe that "Animals" is frequently overlooked by a lot of Pink Floyd fans, it has been my favourite album by Floyd since its release, while my friends drooled over "The Wall", my best friend liked "Dark Side" best and my girlfriend loved "Wish You Were Here" the best. From what i have been made aware of the "Pigs On The Wing" track that was on the 8 track cartridge released in the States has Snowy White playing guitar and not David Gilmour. Also Roger Waters was intending to make "Animals" a double album but due to the release of "A Nice Pair" being a double album, they made it a single album. I never get sick of playing Animals and i never will.

Animals=Greatness
Animals is by far my favorite album. I cant wait to get some boots of it once the server gets running. I think that the concept of the album is really cool. I like the flow of the album more than other pink floyd stuff because of the use of acoustic guitars. Its one of the albums than I really enjoy listening to in full. The song after the intro is probably my favorite floyd song of all time.

Under-rated, heck yeah. I love the PF epics, Echoes, Shine On, etc. and this one is full of them, and if you lucky enough to have a copy of the 8track version of Pigs on the Wing, you cant go wrong

The bridged version of Pigs on the Wing can be found on Disk 6 of A Tree Full of Secrets, it's track 2, they also have the single version of When The Tigers Broke Free on that cdas well.
